Together for Dignity and Respect

Dear Rob Albert,

We are community members, patients and workers who stand with LabCorp employees. As frequent customers, we rely on you to provide top quality care for ourselves, families and neighbors in the community.  The work that LabCorp provides for us is vital for our health and wellness. Sometimes we come to you in our most important and vulnerable moments in life. The services your employees provide are often life changing diagnoses and leave us feeling healthier and more confident. With LabCorp continuing to expand and grow in the area we have some apprehensions to address regarding your business practices.

We are deeply concerned about the way your workers are being mistreated and disrespected. Your anti worker, anti-unionattitudes and behaviors are in violation of your mission statement and values. Your community outreach vision online reads, "At LabCorp, our goal is to be a good corporate citizen and be a positive force in changing people's lives, especially in the communities where our employees live and work." we feel that you have failed to reach and sustain your community goals. Our particular concern is that LabCorp has been fighting employees on their demands for competitive wages, adequate staffing, affordable healthcare and to be treated with dignity and respect. An attack on one is an attack on all. In this political climate it is crucial, now more than ever before, that we stand strong and united with the healthcare industry against the attacks on our healthcare system. We strongly support LabCorp workers in their efforts to gain a fair contract and a safe workplace where they feel that their voices will be heard and their work will be valued. With LabCorp earning $9 billion in record profits last year and credible acknowledgements in Fortune magazine, we know LabCorp can do better. Not only for their employees but for the community at large.

Your behavior is unacceptable at a time when our access to healthcare in this country is being threatened. Your workers deserve respect on the job as they are fighting for their patients every day. This lack of respect and inability to bargain in good faith has caused us to reconsider where we get our healthcare services in the future.

We ask that you come to the table prepared to negotiate in good faith a fair contract, which includes all of the stated goals and values above. We hope that LabCorp will begin to be a positive force in changing people's lives within our community.

Sincerely,
