St. Anne Hospital Professional & Technical VOTE SCHEDULED
A vote is scheduled for UFCW union members at St. Anne Hospital regarding a Memorandum of Understanding negotiated between our Union and Employer regarding changes to the Employer’s timekeeping system. Please note that this vote is not about whether the Employer will make this change to our timeclocks, as they have the right to implement these changes; but instead, union members will be voting on the workplace protections our union negotiated for us after this change occurs.
The practice of “rounding” timecards at the seven-to-eight-minute mark is being eliminated, and we will instead be transitioning to “actual” timekeeping: where employees are paid to-the-minute. While we anticipate that this change will improve the overall accuracy of our timecards (& potentially increase the amount of compensable time-worked we are paid for overall), there are a few anticipated impacts this change may have, and therefore negotiated the below protections through our Union:
Key Points:
Overtime Protection: Employees will not face retaliation or discipline for incidental overtime resulting from this new timekeeping method.
Undertime Protection: Employees working slightly under their scheduled shifts (e.g., 7 hours 58 minutes as opposed to 8 hours) will not be required to use vacation or PTO to meet their FTE requirements.
Shift Premiums: There are no expected changes to evening or night shift premium eligibility or pay- and the Employer agrees to resolve and inadvertent issues, should they arise.
Scrub Time: Employees who don/doff hospital-required scrubs will be allowed to clock in 8 minutes before their scheduled start time to dress-in, and will be allowed 8-minutes at the end of their shift to dress-out.
Ongoing Collaborative Dialogue: The union and employer will continue discussions to address any ancillary concerns, such as the potential need for additional time clocks.
This agreement ensures these protections (& more) for union members as CHI Franciscan transitions to actual timekeeping! All members in good standing are encouraged to attend, read the full Memorandum of Understanding, and cast their vote:
