MultiCare Auburn Medical Center RNs & RN Case Managers BARGAINING BEGINS!
On Tuesday, July 30 MultiCare Auburn Medical Center registered nurses kicked-off union contract negotiations with MultiCare. We’re feeling energized and ready to keep the momentum going; recognizing wins achieved by our union siblings in other contract negotiations at MultiCare recently.
We were also excited to welcome the newly-organized RN Case Managers to our Bargaining Team! Having won their union election in May, the Case Management nurses will join us at the table to negotiate their placement into the RN union contract. Their addition strengthens our collective efforts, and we feel committed to ensuring that the new contract benefits all nurses at Auburn Medical Center.
We began our day finalizing our review of other area union contracts and making sure our proposals aimed at addressing key workplace issues we’ve encountered over the last few years; staffing concerns, standby/on-call practices, and enhancing protections for charge nurse assignments.
Additionally, we worked diligently to evaluate regional nursing salaries in King County, and took the time to look ahead into 2025 & 2026. We are confident that our wage will lift our pay back into the competitive market in the first year of our new agreement with MultiCare, but also keep us competitive throughout the duration of our three-year contract.
After plenty of discussion, we felt that it would be an effective strategy to present management with most of our language and economic proposals right away. We believe this approach demonstrates our readiness to work diligently to secure the wages and protections we need NOW!
We’re looking forward to continuing our work together through the power of our union, to win a strong contract for the Registered Nurses, and Case Manager Nurses at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center!
“This is our first time at the table, and starting negotiations showed us there are a lot of benefits in this contract that we just weren’t getting before being union! So many premium pays, recognition for our nursing experience, continuing education money… and even just overtime premiums!” —Nicole Joseph, Case Manager RN
