“Being a member of UFCW 3000 has brought many benefits to myself and fellow Techs. One of those benefits is a mutually agreed on contract with the Employer. The contract includes defined processes for wages, hours, and working conditions. Also, there is the opportunity every three years to renegotiate the contract and build on previous wins. This is a major benefit!” - Matt Brabant, Raspatory Therapist at Seattle Children’s Hospital
Over 450 union Tech workers at SCH won Historic wage increases (up to 28.75%!) that lead the market and will help with staff retention and recruitment. Together we negotiated and voted for a new contract that includes: FULL RETRO PAY equal to all hours worked back to January 31, Per Diem differential increased from 10% to 15%, Increases to several differentials -including the night shift differential, Juneteenth as a new paid holiday, New Pharmacy Technician premiums when performing compounding or tech-check-tech assignments, New promotion language that ensures a fair process when moving to a level two or three position (with retroactive effect), And so much more!

Yes. Without a contract, we have no input into management decisions that can change or eliminate jobs. With a contract, we are no longer “at will” employees, but have additional rights and protections negotiated into a union contract.

There is no initiation fee. Dues for UFCW 3000 members are 1.55% of gross monthly income capped at $75 a month. You will not pay dues until you vote to approve your union contract.

Fair wage increases, equitable treatment for all staff and a voice in decisions that affect us at work. As a union, we can work together to address difficult issues like safety, staffing and workload. And we’ll get to work with management as equals to improve the hospital.

The first step of joining a union is signing an authorization card online at ufcw3000.org/schunion. When a majority of cards have been signed, they will be sent with the National Labor Relations Board who will conduct an election. We will have the opportunity to vote in a secret ballot election on whether we want form a union. If 50% or more of us vote for the union, then the union will be formed. We will then prepare to negotiate a contract with the hospital.

UFCW 3000 represents 20,000 healthcare workers in Washington State including our members at Providence Health System, MultiCare Health System, CHI/Franciscan Health System and more. The more healthcare workers that stand together to demand better wages and working conditions, the more powerful you are.
-
There are groups of workers at SCH like you who are meeting regularly to discuss how to move the union effort forward. Interested in joining in? Email Emma at emudd@ufcw3000.orgto get plugged in with the appropriate group.
Join us! Together we can fight for higher wages, retention, training pay, safe staffing levels, and respect!
