Amy Dayley Angell, QFC

I’ve been a QFC cashier for 16 years, a shop steward for 10, and served on our Executive Board for 7 of those. Through my efforts to improve working conditions, wages, and benefits, I’ve gained a reputation as a trusted leader. I’m proud of my contributions to successful contract negotiations, including securing the highest raise ever achieved in a grocery contract. Moving forward, I’m committed to empowering my fellow union members and promoting unity across industries. My passion for social and economic justice drives me to make a positive impact because we all deserve more.

Ana Alvarez, Washington Beef

I’m a proud union member in the meatpacking industry at Washington Beef. I grew up watching my parents working in the fields and advocating for better working conditions, holding meetings at our home, and helping organize their co-workers. I've seen firsthand the difference a union can make in improving the lives of workers. With over 20 years of experience as a Steward, I'm committed to advocating for better wages, benefits, and a safe work environment. I am excited about the future and the direction our union is heading.

Ashley Price, Skagit Regional Health

I have worked at Skagit Regional Health as a Medical Assistant and UFCW member since 2014. I have worked in the healthcare industry since 2006. I was elected to the Board in 2020. I believe I have become a strong and trusted leader for our members. I am a Shop Steward and have been on various committees for our union and in my community. We have won movement in so many areas for healthcare members, and I can’t wait to take on what’s next.

Atsuko Koseki, PCC

I work at the PCC in Edmonds, where I have successfully served on the bargaining committee for four contracts. I am a current member of the Executive Board, as well as the Climate Justice and Racial Justice Advisory Boards. With the power of the Union, we can have a better work environment and education for members and their families. I have experienced so many successful wins with our Union, but I have more work to do for a better future as a part of UFCW 3000.

Bryan Gilderoy, Fred Meyer

I currently work at Fred Meyer in Kent, WA, Store #172, and have been in the grocery industry for 23 years. I have been a shop steward for 9 years. I work every day for my fellow coworkers and am proud to represent them. The reason why I am on the Executive Board is to better serve and represent my coworkers. A fundamental belief of mine is 'see a need, fill a need'.

Bryana Kolppa, Kaiser Permanente

I've been a Sonographer at Kaiser Permanente for nine years, and a Shop Steward for six. I am on the Executive Board and Health Care Advisory Board with UFCW 3000, the Joint Labor Management Committee at KP, and was on the bargaining team for two contracts. When Kaiser Permanente acquired Group Health our team pushed hard during this transitional process to maintain our best local contract standards and win KP national's best standards. Over the next three years, I'm excited to continue the fight to raise standards and push for equity across our workplaces and communities.

Carmen Velasquez, Twin City Foods

Cindy Franck, St. Michael Medical Center

I am a proud rank-and-file nurse and Union Steward at CHI-St Michael’s in Silverdale, where we have struggled with short staffing, during the pandemic to this day. It’s heavily impacted me and my co-workers. I was proud our state passed safe staffing standards into law this legislative session, and I want to continue to fight on our Executive Board to make sure we hold hospital executives’ feet to the fire as the new law is implemented. I would be honored to have your vote so I can continue to represent you!

Cliff Powers, Safeway

I have been with Safeway in Oak Harbor for 35 years. I am very proud to have sat on the bargaining team that won safety language in our contract, included in the Master Safety Committee. And most recently the highest wage increases that have ever been bargained. Over the next 3 years, I would really like to have the active shooter training expanded and to be hands-on. I am very proud to be a part of UFCW 3000 & and a current Executive Board member.

Derek Roybal, Providence Sacred Heart

I have worked in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Sacred Heart in Spokane for 7 years, and I absolutely love the work we do. As a current member of the Executive Board, I am so proud to be a voice for my fellow healthcare workers. I continue to advocate for better working conditions, pay, and benefits for those in hospitals and labs that need our help to fight massive healthcare conglomerates and their continued efforts to devalue the incredibly important work we do. Gregg Barney, Multicare

I’ve been a senior press operator at MultiCare Health System for over 34 years. In addition to my role as a member of the Executive Board of Local 3000, I’m a member of the Audit, Building, and Planning for our Future Committees for our union. Fighting for workers throughout the industries we represent, we’ve grown our local to be the largest and most significant local in the UFCW. I’m proud to be a part of our member-led vision and board.

Greg Brooks, PCC

I was born and raised in Tacoma 61 years ago, and still live in the same zip code. Both my parents were lifelong union members. In 2007 I took on the role of an instructor for King County's Meatcutters’ Apprenticeship program, where I eventually became the secretary for the program. Now I’m working with WeTrain Washington to expand our program statewide. With 20 years in the industry, I am dedicated to improving affordable health care, higher wages, and workplace safety.

James Perez, Safeway

I have been a produce manager with Safeway for over 40 years in Yakima. I have served on the UFCW Executive Board for over 25 years and am honored to be a voice for Central Washington members. The recent expansion of our Local and the improvements made to our Strike and Defense Fund investments are two of many achievements I am proud to have been a part of. I look forward to continuing to build up our Local and ensure a bigger, brighter future for you, our members. Together, we will achieve this by increasing our membership numbers, and member involvement.

Jeff Smith, Fred Meyer

I work at the Snohomish Fred Meyer, where I am a Steward and longtime member of our Executive Board. I have been on the bargaining committee for many contracts with Fred Meyer over the years, and I will always keep fighting for you. I have been proud to be elected to multiple Conventions of our International Union, most recently as part of the 2023 UFCW 3000 delegation where we fought to make our International Union more accountable to all members.

Jeff Terpening, Safeway

I work at Safeway #3255 in Spokane, WA where I have worked for almost 16 years. I have been a shop steward for 15 years and have been on the executive board of my old 1439, and now UFCW 3000. I am proud of the fact that not only do my coworkers trust me enough to come to ask questions about our contract, but are also getting more involved in our Union! I hope to help our members get better contracts and help our local grow!

J'Nee Delancey, Town and Country

I am a dedicated UFCW 3000 member from Town & Country in Ballard who has turned my passion for service into action on behalf of my Union siblings. With my current seat on the Board, I am a voice for workers in independent grocery stores. As a member of the Bargaining Committee, I participated in four bargains that resulted in a fully funded pension & the largest pay increases we have ever won. Our health care lacks sufficient mental health care benefits & I will fight for improved coverage in my next term on the Board.

I'm excited to serve in the Eastern Region position for the Meat/Grocery Store Division. I currently work at Safeway and have been there for seven years as a Seafood Manager. I'm looking forward to working with other board members, volunteers, and other members of UFCW 3000 to advocate for better pay, health benefits, and safety for all grocery workers.

Juan Stout, Providence Everett

I’m a former educator who, for the last 15 years, has worked in one of the busiest ERs in the nation, and I enjoy my service to the community at PRMC-Everett. I relish my role as a representative of my co-workers in the healthcare community as a member of the Executive Board and will always be an advocate for better working conditions, better pay, and better healthcare. I will continue to stand up against those who put profits before patients.

Judy Wick, Safeway

I have worked at East Wenatchee Safeway #3521 for almost 7 years. I currently sit on the Executive Board and I am also a Shop Steward. It is good to know with our union that there’s someone there who will always have your back and who will fight for you, for fair wages, for better health insurance, and for better benefits. I will be in your corner to fight for you. I have learned a lot and it is my honor and my privilege to be with UFCW 3000.

Kaye Balk, Providence Sacred Heart

I have worked at Providence Sacred Heart in Spokane for 17 years. It has been my pleasure to serve you and be your voice fighting for higher wages and better benefits, on our negotiating team at work and as a current member of our Executive Board. I also serve on our Conference Committee to be a voice for resolving safety issues that may arise. Representing the membership on our Executive Board has given me the opportunity to put plans into action to further benefit all the workers of UFCW 3000.

Kevin Flynn, Albertsons

I am a proud, third-generation Union member. I work as a meatcutter at Albertsons in Marysville, Washington, where I have been a proud member of UFCW for the last 15 years and the shop steward for the last 5. I had the honor of being a part of the bargaining team to help negotiate our 2022 contract.

Kim Bristlin, Safeway

I work at Newport Safeway as a cashier and have been a proud member since 2014. I am a shop steward dedicated to working hard to achieve results. I attended the Safety Summit last Fall and the International Conventions in 2018 and 2023. On the Executive Board, I will support your concerns to create change for safer work environments, higher wages in our contracts for the Eastside of the state, and respect for all. I am a rank-and-file member for the people who need a voice!

Kinzie Michael, United Way of Spokane

I have worked at United Way of Spokane County for over twenty years, and I have been a proud UFCW member that entire time, volunteering on our Executive Board for the last fifteen of those years. Years ago, my supervisor asked me for an inappropriate hug and a kiss; I went to my union representative to help me have that supervisor held accountable. It took a long time and a lot of work, but my Union stood by me and eventually, he was gone. It is now my honor to give back to our union – that’s why I am so proud to be UFCW 3000.

Kyong Barry, Albertsons

I work at Albertson’s #4483 in Auburn, Washington, and I just celebrated 21 years! I am currently one of the union front-end supervisors for my store. I am proud to have told our members’ stories during contract negotiations for six rounds of negotiations now. My proudest achievement is that we’ve made sure to have out-of-pocket costs for our healthcare benefits in 16 years, all the while continuing to improve them! We saved and secured the pensions, for meatcutters, retail clerks, and grocery workers which were in danger of insolvency after the 2008 Mortgage Crise. Now we have a new pension that we can all count on. I am so proud to represent all of us!

Maggie Breshears, Fred Meyer

I’m an e-commerce clerk at the Greenwood Fred Meyer and a proud Executive Board member. I became involved in the Union when I transferred to the Pickup department with a fellow cashier who lost her health insurance in the middle of her cancer treatment because the new department was non-union. I fought to restore her medical coverage and have never stopped fighting. Employees of billion-dollar corporations should not be struggling to afford food! Healthcare workers deserve better healthcare plans, competitive wages, and staffing levels that allow for regular breaks and lunches. These fights continue. I won’t give up!

Melissa Lozano, Fred Meyer

I work as a department head at Fred Meyer in Richland, WA. I was instrumental in unionizing my store wall-to-wall, and I served on the bargaining team where we won a history-making contract in 2022. I have trained to be a shop steward and I am in the Movement Builders group here at Local 3000. I am a single parent of 4 children. I have homeschooled and graduated 3 kids & I am currently homeschooling the youngest. I am in college earning an AA in Business Management with an emphasis on Labor Studies.

I have been a bargaining committee member on every contract since 2006 and fought tirelessly to make sure that my Hudson’s co-workers get everything they deserve. One of my proudest moments was when I helped pass the SeaTac $15 minimum wage, the first in the nation. Our last contract was historic. I like watching the Seahawks & soccer and spending time with my family at the park with my wife, our two sons, and two daughters. I survived the Somali civil war. I moved to Kenya looking for a better life, then eventually settled in Seattle. This experience drives me to fight for my coworkers.

MonaLisa Bauman, Planned Parenthood

I stood up and gave healthcare workers a voice when we won a Health Care Division at the UFCW International Convention this year & I will not let the International Union forget that UFCW has healthcare workers who are members. I'm a fighter. I survived homelessness, being poor, and being hungry by getting involved in our Union. I fought bullying bosses by getting involved and joining committees. I survived childhood rape by putting my father in jail. I am fighting for you too!

Monica Meloy, Central WA Hospital

I am a Surgical Tech in the Mother Baby Unit, serving the Hospital for almost 19 years. I grew up in the Wenatchee Valley. I have been a Union steward for 18 years. I pour my heart and soul into situations involving people and the Union. Negotiations and clear communication are my priority. I have been to conventions, classes, and educational environments to better my knowledge. My goal is to help others reach a solution and limit complications. Not only am I leading in my work life but also as a mother to two adult children and two grandchildren.

Patricia Brown, Multicare

I have been an LPN at Tacoma General for 40 years. I was encouraged by two coworkers to be active in the union to bring about change. I learned at a family reunion that my favorite uncle was killed for organizing a steel mill in South Carolina. I love what I do & I have always loved helping people. Working with my patients & coworkers has shaped me into the woman I am now.  My hope is to always be open to any and everyone who crosses my path.

Rob Shauger, St. Michael Medical Center

I work at CHI-St Michael’s in Silverdale, where I am proud to represent my co-workers and fight to make sure CHI is accountable. I am proud UFCW 3000 took a lead role in helping to pass SB 5236 in the 2023 legislative session to improve staffing, which has heavily impacted my hospital. I will continue to fight to make sure CHI is implementing the law fairly, and will not hesitate to hold them accountable where they fall down.

I enjoy traveling, watching sports, playing board games, listening to music, and trying new things. I work for QFC in the grocery department, where I have been for the last five of my 15 years total with Kroger. I’m a Shop Steward for my store. A few accomplishments I’m proudest of include helping educate my coworkers about their rights at work, being part of the Executive Board, and being part of the grocery contract bargaining team. I will continue to fight for workers’ rights, higher wages, a safer work environment, and representing my co-workers.

Sam Dancy, QFC

I have worked for QFC for almost 32 years and have been a shop steward for 31 of those. I am also a proud rank-and-file executive board member. Some of my proudest accomplishments include political canvassing with UFCW to elect candidates who support our values and to defeat a “right to work” anti-Union initiative in Missouri in 2015. However, my proudest moment was being elected to the executive board of our Union, and the creation of UFCW 3000 “Black Lives Matters” buttons in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in 2020.

Scott Shiflett, PCC

I’ve been a Meatcutter for 35 years, first in Hawaii and now at PCC in Redmond. When I first started, I didn’t really know much about Unions. When UFCW stepped in, pointed out I wasn’t being paid right, and won my back pay, I was hooked! I’ve served on four contracts with Allied and three at PCC. I’m always fighting for the best wages, great healthcare, and a healthy Pension. Going forward, my goals are to boost wages higher to better match the cost-of-living hikes and to help push our International Union into the 21st century.

Sia Tinoisamoa, Aramark

I represent laundry workers at Aramark at the Kent, Tacoma, and Everett locations. I have been working at Aramark Uniform Services since 2007. Since taking on this job, I have moved up and become the lead in Coveralls. My team and our UFCW 3000 members on the production floor are the hardest working and most dedicated people I know which is why I joined the union and our Executive Board.

I work as a receiver for Ballard Fred Meyer 608. UFCW 21 was my first union. I am excited about the future of UFCW 3000 and would love for us to grow to be the most powerful union and to ensure our current goals become the template for our future in the labor movement. To ensure that the people who fall through the cracks are lifted back up and know they are not alone. We are brothers and sisters of the same family. We may not always get along all the time, but we stand for our family!

Trent Wu, Metropolitan Market

I have been a shop steward for the last two years, where I work at the Admiral Metropolitan Market in West Seattle. In that time I have advocated for my fellow union members, both with elected officials and on the shop floor. As an elected member of the Executive Board, I will continue serving my union siblings and advance the cause of a vibrant labor movement!

Vanessa Roessner, Rosauers

I am a proud employee of Rosauer’s Grocery in Spokane and a very proud member of our Executive Board. Over the last three years, I have helped fellow co-workers navigate COVID-19 and the merger of Locals 1439 & Local 21 to become UFCW 3000. This merger has made us stronger as a whole. I have served on our Union scholarship committee, helping college-bound workers and their families go further. In the next three years, I want to work on increasing membership participation and serve on the bargaining committee on the Eastside to fight for better wages, and benefits.

Yasmin Ashur, Albertsons

I work at Albertson’s in Port Orchard and have been an active member of UFCW for 23 years. I am proud that I helped lobby for the passage of a bill to protect workers against retail theft, and for workers in the cannabis industry to organize. I have been fighting against injustice my whole life. Growing up in the Middle East made me an advocate for the underdog, for the oppressed. I will fight anywhere there is injustice.
