Macy’s Furniture Galleries Layoff & Severance M.O.U. Online Vote Notice

Layoff & Severance M.O.U. Online Vote Notice

Earlier this year, Macy’s made the business decision to close the Budget Clearance House work location, where members of UFCW Local 3000 worked.

Given these circumstances, our union entered effects bargaining with the company and came to an Agreement on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which would provide the impacted employees with certain layoff, transfer, and severance pay rights. Because this type of agreement is technically an expansion of our union contract, it is required that all of the workers represented under the contract vote on the MOU (even if they’re not the ones affected by it); our Bargaining Team recommend voting YES on the MOU, which offers the effected employees things like:

Budget Clearance House workers can apply for transfers to open positions in other locations covered by the current CBA. Transfers will be offered in seniority order, with placement occurring at the end of the Budget House Clearance Center closure (or earlier by mutual agreement)

Severance Pay calculated at a certain number of weeks earnings, based on years of service at Macy’sPayment for unused vacation and personal days

Online Vote Details: Thursday, June 18 from 8:00AM – 5:00PM
