Grocery Store Bargain Action: Taking it to the Streets

In an effort to reach out to the public about our efforts to achieve a fair contract, grocery store workers and community partners began a round of store leaflets and neighborhood canvases this week. The response has been wonderful and people are loving our “We Love Our Grocery Store Workers” shopping bags. In the coming weeks we will have a leaflet at each and every store. So if you have not signed up yet for your store’s leaflet, please contact your Union Rep or workplace leader to sign up to join in the action. These are quick, easy and fun actions where we can greet our customers and share the message of what we are pushing for in our new contract and how making our jobs better helps customers and our community too.

We have been in contract negotiations since March. The employers are still proposing to cut pay and reduce staff. We are proposing, as you should have seen in our last update, to make significant improvements to our contracts with better wages, staffing, scheduling, safety, and training. The only way we can achieve these improvements is with members taking action together.

For some more information on our efforts, please read a recently published column by two of our QFC members on our union bargaining team; Amy Daley and Sam Dancy

Next Bargaining Date: June 7
