Northeast Oregon Grocery Bargaining Update
/In our last contract negotiations, our union won the largest wage increases that we’ve seen, secured a transition to the stable our union health plan through the UFCW Spokane healthcare Trust, and ensured funding to keep our pension plan dependable for retirement. Our NE Oregon contracts recently expired, and our union is prioritizing a new contract that builds upon our previous wins.
Even though our Union is set to begin bargaining for our Puget Sound and Spokane county contracts in a few months, members from our NE Oregon stores have made their voices loud and clear – getting wage increases as soon as possible is a top priority. With that in mind, our union is in discussion with Albertsons/Safeway about integrating aspects of the UFCW 555 settlement into our own while continuing to maintain our voice in our healthcare and retirement plans. Those fellow union grocery workers in UFCW 555 won a contract settlement that includes the following and more:
Includes industry leading across the board wage increases
Improvements to scheduling language
Increasing the wage scale above minimum wage
Aligning our contract grievance timelines
While we continue those discussions with the Employer, we will send regular updates about a contract settlement, proposed vote dates, and share vote details so that members have an opportunity to review the material before choosing to ratify an agreement. If you have any questions, please call your union Rep. Rob Roundy at (509) 340-7390.
