We bargained back-to-back dates this week May 5 -7 and will return to the bargaining table June 9 - 11. This week our team brought two guest speakers to present to Providence and answer questions about new big picture benefit proposals: Laura Hopkins, Executive Director of the Healthcare Training Fund, and Sean Embly, Union Trustee on the UFCW Sound Variable Annuity Pension Plan.
“Roll up your sleeves. While we are early in the process- we are feeling organized, prepared, and united in our goals to achieve the best contract possible for our fellow nurses. Stay involved and help us build a strong network of nurses in every unit ready to take action.” - Your Union Bargaining Team: Juan Stout, Terry Pierce, Kristen Crowder, Carrie Rimel, Stephanie Sausman, Amanda Chinnick, Scott Ryan, Kimball Conlon, and Tulena Lammers
Join us to hear from our guest speaker why you should be filing L&I on your missed breaks and meals. We are excited to invite Carl Bakken from Labor and Industries (L&I) to give an education on missed Meal and Rest Breaks, how to file complaints, and answer any questions you may have!
We met with Management for our first bargaining session. The time we spent preparing prior to bargaining allowed us to be ready to meet and present early. We made initial proposals which included union security, union access to nurse lounges, paid time for stewards to represent their coworkers in investigatory meetings, defining the role of break relief nurses, strengthening the definition of precepting, shortening the probation time for introductory nurses, severance pay for layoffs, improvements to bereavement leave, and more.
Stay informed! Stay involved! Our Union Nurse Bargaining Team will begin your contact negotiations on March 11. Attend the next bi-weekly Contract Action Team (CAT) Meeting on Tuesday, February 17 via zoom.
