PROTECTING OUR RIGHTS - Must Have 'Just Cause'

Providence Centralia Hospital management terminated four different RN’s in the past year without proper process. When the Nurses saw that their contract was being violated they called the union.

All UFCW 21 contracts guarantee that employees cannot be disciplined or discharged, except for ‘just cause.’ There must be a fair and just investigation to support a termination, and a progressive disciplinary process to help all workers succeed in the work place.

After union investigations, two nurses got their jobs back, some with back-pay, and the other two took settlement agreements. By standing up for their rights in their contract, all four Nurses saw the power of their contract at work.
