PROTECTING OUR RIGHTS - Standing Together

“It took me two years of process to come to the US as a refugee from Somalia back in 2001. After a few months I was able to get a job and eventually became a US citizen and bought a home. I’m proud to be a member of UFCW 21. We all look after each other, that is part of being a union.

When the travel ban happened it not only impacted me and my co-workers at SeaTac Airport, it impacted everyone. After all, we are a nation of immigrants. But now more people are afraid and fearful to travel, especially Muslims. That’s not what made this country strong. Opportunity and freedom, that’s what America is supposed to be.

I am proud that our union backed Bob Ferguson for State Attorney General and we are standing together so we can be strong and not afraid.”
