Labor Day has always been more than just the end of summer. It was born out of the struggles of working people in the late 1800s who demanded dignity, fair pay, and safe working conditions. It’s a day to honor the generations of workers who fought for the rights we often take for granted—like the weekend, overtime pay, and the right to form a union.
And just as importantly, it’s a day to recommit to that fight today. Workers are standing up against corporations that put profits over people—organizing for fair pay, better health care, safer jobs, and respect on the job. Labor Day reminds us that progress happens when we come together.
