Uwajimaya Bargaining Update
/Our Union Bargaining Team: Aaron Powers, Uwajimaya Bellevue; Jesse Marlar, Uwajimaya Seattle; Ashley Toshi, Uwajimaya Renton
On Thursday January 29, our Bargaining Team met with management for our second session of contract negotiations. We delivered our response to the Employer’s initial proposals and came to tentative agreements on several language issues that will allow us to narrow down and focus on wages, health care and pension.
Our focus remains on winning:
Significant wage increases at the top of the scale
Reduce length of time it takes to get to journey cutter from 3 years to 2 years
One pay scale for the region that would raise pay throughout the scale
Increase manager premiums and establish assistant manager position
Language that would ensure unused earned vacation would not be lost
Employer contributions that would maintain our industry leading healthcare
Protecting our retirement by ensuring pension stays funded
We have two additional bargaining dates scheduled for February 5 and 6.
