Recovery Cafe Bargaining Update
/Our union Bargaining Team met with Recovery Cafe for another day of negotiations on Tuesday, February 10. For months we have provided Recovery Cafe with requested details on our union health insurance proposal. In Tuesday’s session, the Employer explained their only hesitation is that they’d like to maintain the eligibility period for new employees to one month. Hearing this, we passed a proposal that gives the Employer an avenue to have a one month waiting period. We are excited to hear their response! Existing employees would not have a waiting period for health care, and would be eligible after ratification and when the union healthcare transition occurs.
While we are happy to hear their interest in our health care plan and commitment to backpay upon ratification, we need to see significant movement on our wages. Our pay should reflect our dedication to Recovery Cafe and the non-profit space. We deserve fair wages, affordable health care, and a strong union contract!
