We met with Management this Tuesday and Wednesday as we begin negotiations towards a new Union Contract. Despite a brief interruption from an unexpected fire alarm, we were pleased that management seemed prepared to meaningfully engage with our concerns, and we were able to make progress in several areas, including:
Improved language regarding the rights of union stewards to assist in the enforcement of the contract.
Additional protections from supervisors performing bargaining unit work.
Guidelines regarding how new productivity and job performance standards can be implemented.
Additionally, we engaged in significant conversations with management regarding job posting, career advancement and employee morale. These conversations were improved by the presence of NWA president Chris Parker at the bargaining table.
We are tentatively scheduled to meet with management again during the week of August 19 and anticipate discussing wage and other economic issues as well as remote work opportunities on those dates.
