MultiCare Mary Bridge Therapies Bargaining Begins
/On Tuesday, October 27, our union Bargaining Team representing the newly-organized clinic workers in the MultiCare Mary Bridge Therapies group met with management for our first official session of negotiations towards our first union contract!
Leading up to today, our team met for a full contract audit and conducted a thorough review, where we spent the day reviewing bargaining surveys, analyzing other MultiCare collective bargaining agreements, and discussing our top priorities; using all of this to draft our initial set of proposals for management.
Over the course of our first day, we held two “joint-sessions” (where the Employer and Union meet in the same room to exchange formal proposals); starting with one last read through of a number of non-economic proposals (things that for the most part, do not directly impact our pay; for instance, workplace safety and other job protections), before passing them across the table each time. While the Employer let us know that they didn’t anticipate getting any responses to us until we’d provided them with the bulk of our total CBA proposals, we were able to use the time between meetings to continue finalizing drafts of our staffing and workload articles.
Overall, our first day of negotiations was productive, and we are eager to get back to the table at our next scheduled session on Thursday, November 5, where we plan to continue making our set of initial proposals to management.
