PCC Update from the Labor-Management Committee!
/Dear PCC Staff,
We are excited to announce the formation of the Labor and Management Committee (LMC) at PCC and provide you with our first update on the committee's activities. The LMC was established as part of the UFCW 3000/PCC bargaining agreement in 2023 and went into effect in 2024. The LMC is a subcommittee of the Board of Trustees' Governance and Membership Committee. The LMC’s purpose is to study and make recommendations to the BOT (or PCC’s Leadership Team, as appropriate based on the nature of the recommendation), for action on those matters on which it deliberates. Our focus will be on addressing important matters such as labor, staffing and workplace improvements, training needs and profit-sharing structures.
Committee Formation
The LMC consists of 14 members, including five democratically elected union staff members, two alternates, PCC management representatives, union representatives, and Board of Trustees members.
We are pleased to introduce your LMC representatives:
PCC Union Staff: Emily Weisenburger (Issaquah), Kelly Campbell (View Ridge),Chloe Jett (Bellevue), Scott Shiflett (Redmond), Scott Norman (West Seattle)
Alternates: Kerry Hudson (Burien), Scott Jue (Central District)
Management and Board: Angela Owen (BOT Chair), Megan Karch (GMC Chair), Amy Chow (PCC CFO), Jennifer Beus (PCC VP Operations), Dave Spear (PCC VP Merchandising)
Union Representatives: Sean Embly and Joe Solorio (UFCW3000)
Co-Chairs: Donna Rasmussen (PCC Union Staff and BOT) and Laurae McIntyre (PCC Union Staff and BOT)
Progress to Date
Since our formation, we have held three meetings and made significant progress:
Charter Approval: We have written and approved the LMC Charter, which outlines our responsibilities and operational procedures.
Group Agreements: Sixteen Group Agreements were unanimously adopted to guide our conduct and ensure productive collaboration.
Meeting Schedule: We have established a quarterly meeting schedule aligned with the Board of Trustees' committee meetings.
Initiative: After a presentation from a non profit consultant, we unanimously voted to move forward with their services. They can help us identify and eliminate workflow "pinch points" to improve efficiency and employee satisfaction. We are currently waiting for the contract details to be finalized.
Looking Ahead
We are committed to fostering PCC's well-being and success through this collaborative effort between union staff, management, and board representatives. Our next LMC meeting is on May 13th and we will plan to provide another update after that meeting on our progress as a committee. We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress and welcome your input as we work together to enhance our cooperative community.
Sincerely,
Donna Rasmussen and Laurae McIntyre
