Recovery Cafe Bargaining Update
/On March 10, our bargaining committee met again with Recovery Cafe hoping to make significant progress to reach a tentative agreement. *Salaries Employees will receive year over year increases based on the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton CPI-U
We are still significantly a part from the Employer on wages and what increases will look like for the duration of the agreement. Our Bargaining Team is prioritizing having negotiated and clear increases.
Health care:
We have a vision for affordable health care. Because families are faced with unaffordable costs for monthly premiums (some paying hundreds of dollars per month), our Bargaining Team has prioritized addressing that inequity.
At one of our previous sessions, Recovery Cafe said that their only concern about transitioning to the union health care plan is the ability for new hires (those hired after ratification of a new contract) to be eligible for coverage after 1 month. We addressed that concern.
Now the Employer has indicated that they just don’t want to have an increase to their costs to the cost of health care.
Next Steps:
There is a path to an agreement and our Bargaining Team is ready to negotiate a fair deal that meets Recover Cafe’s workers’ core issues.
