Confluence Health Professionals Second Session Comes to an End
/“We had a productive bargaining meeting and reached several tentative agreements, which is an encouraging sign of the progress we’re making together. While we still have work to do on the non-economic items, the discussion remained constructive. We are hopeful that we will continue building on this momentum and make further progress at our next bargaining session.” – Clari Ramos, Nutrition Pharmacist
“While we are making progress in winning a strong contract, it was disappointing to see the way that meeting virtually empowered the employer’s representative to be dismissive of our concerns. The agreements that we made are exciting, but I am hoping to get back in person to have an even more productive session next time.” – Theresa Randolph, Medical Laboratory Scientist Technical Specialist
On Thursday, July 23, we concluded our second bargaining session with Confluence. This session was more productive with multiple tentative agreements being reached.
We are still in non-economics and have reached some agreements on language protecting us from discrimination, unfair discipline and some opportunities for employee development. We still have a way to go but are feeling optimistic about the positive motion in today’s session.
While it was positive to see the employer engage more with our proposals, a persistent frustration in this session was bargaining over virtual communications, which led to technical difficulties and miscommunication, contributing to unnecessary delays in the process. We have informed the employer of our intent to meet in person for bargaining sessions moving forward on Aug 14.
