St. Michael Medical Center Pro-Tech Tentative Agreement Reached

Contract Vote To Be Scheduled

Our Union Bargaining Team: Olivia Almeida, Respiratory Therapist; Bryson Andrews, ED Tech; Merry Brandt-MacFann, CT Technologist; Sonja Hammes, Pharmacist; Robel Haile, Pharmacist; Angela Roberson, EP Technologist; Rob Shauger, CNA; Lara Williams-Graham, Certified Surgical Technologist

After months of difficult negotiations, a powerful informational picket, and an overwhelming strike authorization vote, our Union Bargaining Team fought late into the night on October 8 and reached a tentative agreement on a new contract!

Throughout these negotiations, CommonSpirit made it clear that they were taking a different approach to bargaining this cycle, even openly stating that they had no intention of offering market-competitive wages. The employer resisted meaningful economic improvements at nearly every turn.

But our strength and solidarity changed that!

Our successful informational picket and overwhelming strike authorization vote sent a clear message that we were united and prepared to fight for the contract we deserve. That message was clearly heard at the bargaining table.

From the very beginning of negotiations on October 8, things felt dramatically different. The employer's first proposal of the day included significant additional money, signaling a clear shift in their position and a willingness to reach an agreement. Negotiations moved quickly from there, and by the end of the night, we had secured a tentative agreement that puts our wages in a competitive position with MultiCare Tacoma General and other neighboring hospitals.

And the improvements don't stop at wages! Our tentative agreement includes additional improvements throughout the contract that we are excited to share with you. We are currently working the contract vote materials and scheduling the vote, which should be held at the hospital this time around.

The contract vote will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the hospital during the following times: 6 AM to 9 AM, 12 PM to 2 PM, and 4 PM to 8 PM. We are awaiting confirmation of the specific conference room where voting will take place. The location will be included in the official vote notice sent out early next week.
