WhidbeyHealth Pro Tech LPN Bargaining Update
/Our Union Bargaining Team met with Whidbey Health Management on Friday, July 24, and received a comprehensive economic proposal. To determine their proposal, Management used a wage survey which is accessible yearly, that included multiple wage scales from employers in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. We are unsure why they included states other than Washington. The survey did not include recently ratified local contracts and included a variety of health care systems, which seems to have reduce their overall calculation on how many jobs should be paid. Management determined that each step of each job should receive a different percentage increase to meet the average wage.
This process of calculating wages is cumbersome and does not take into consideration the current cost of living, because it is based on a view of wages that are in the past.
We asked Management about their low wage proposals for 2027 and 2028. They responded that they weren’t focusing on cost-of-living increases and cited that people want to work at this destination employer because it has such a good culture. What do you think?
We are bargaining again on August 7, 2026
