Spokane Zenith Letter Of Understanding Online Vote Scheduled
/We are scheduling a vote on whether to accept or reject an LOU (Letter of Understanding) that would change the language of Article 3.4 in our contract. This is regarding the pay rate for working on Saturday and Sunday. Currently, the Union Contract does not allow members to make up lost time worked on weekends without paying the required weekend overtime rate. Some members would like the opportunity to make up lost hours over the weekend. This updated language would allow this and would still require that any employee the employer requires to work a weekend be paid the contractual weekend overtime rate of time and one-half.
This is the current language in Article 3.4:
Except in cases defined in Section 3.3 above, overtime at the rate of time and one-half (1½) shall be paid for work performed in excess of their regular work schedule each week. Time and one-half shall be paid for work performed on Saturdays and Sundays.
This would be the new language in the article:
Except in cases defined in Section 3.3 above, overtime at the rate of time and one-half (1½) shall be paid for work performed in excess of their regular work schedule each week. Time and one-half shall be paid for work required by the Employer on Saturdays and Sundays.
