MultiCare Capital Medical Center Professionals Bargaining Update

On Thursday, November 7, our Bargaining Team met with Management for our second formal session with MultiCare! With the end of our second bargaining day behind us, we have now presented the Employer with the entirety of our proposals and have now started to receive responses from management on a number of the non-economic articles.

Our team primarily based our proposals off of the Auburn Medical Center Professionals contract- being that it is similarly a first union contract for health care professionals within MultiCare (with a few modifications made, of course, to align with the priorities of our Bargaining Team at Capital). Based on the Employer’s responses, it seems they prefer to reference many of the contract articles within the Capital Medical Center RN & Service/Office/Technical Agreements as a template instead (which is not necessarily an issue, considering these are also tenured union contracts and may even match the practices at CapMC more than those at AMC). With that said, there are enough differences that our team still expect to spend the time to really pick through each proposal and consider which will fit our needs best.

We are still waiting on the responses from the Employer regarding wages and premiums and were told they likely will be provided during our next session on November 19, although that is subject to change.

While we have not formally come to tentative agreement on any particular proposals just yet, however, we feel good about the exchange across the table of proposals and look forward to our next-scheduled session on November 19 to continue this progress.
