With our 2nd meeting with the employer under our belts, we are excited to share some updates. On Friday September 12, we continued conversations around non-economics that included rights of union stewards, bulletin boards, union access to the premises, sub-contracting, and others. SRH listened to our concerns and agreed to many of our proposals, maybe with a tweak or two.

Some tentative agreements reached include:

  • Beginning bargaining sessions 90 days prior to expiration

  • Language that will make us a stronger union, with access to the right information.

Meal and Rest Breaks: SRH proposed language to clarify and increase flexibility for members and to support leadership in adhering to the new laws aimed at protecting members' rights to meal and rest breaks. We look forward to continuing to work with the employer to reach a TA on this proposal in the next meeting.

Growing our Union: At this session, we also won recognition for over 20 Hospice Aides (CNAs) and spiritual counselors employed at Hospice of the NW. They will be added to our Skagit Regional Health bargaining unit and join us in our fight for a fair contract- welcome to our Union!

Our next bargaining sessions will be on October 1, 10, 24 and 30. We encourage all members to keep wearing your Union colors in the worksite and join us for our first CAT (Contract Action Team) meeting this Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 6:30-7:30 pm, being held at our Union Hall (across the street from the Business Center), 1510 N 18th St., Mt Vernon, WA, 98273.
