Providence Swedish Rehabilitation Hospital Bargaining Update

Bargaining continued January 7 and 9 and we reached many new tentative agreements. In creating this new contract we have been working to create language which provides opportunities for collaboration with Management. For example, we have language for a Labor Management Committee, where union members meet with Management to address workplace issues. Examples of meeting topics could include scheduling, training, education, patient safety, rotation of holiday work, etc.

We are focused on wages and benefits that are equitable to other employers. Our recent bargaining sessions, we have made proposals on:

  • PTO

  • Sick leave

  • Holidays

  • Health and Retirement Benefits

  • Education

  • Low Census

We continue to push back on contract language Management is proposing that speaks to the Employer’s right to make unilateral changes. This language is typically called “management rights” and although many contracts have some of this language, PSRH has proposed lengthy, inflexible language that is not reasonable. We will continue to work towards a great contract!

We are scheduled to meet again January 22 and 23.
