We continue to bargain for a new contract!
Management gave us a presentation of their current financial situation and we were able to ask questions to determine how we move forward and make improvements to our wages and working conditions. This included a discussion about how they are dealing with debt. They acknowledged that they had debt and talked about how they were reducing it.
They discussed the need to increase the amount of patient care within Olympic Medical we are currently giving to increase the amount of money coming into the organization.
Management has proposed increasing the number of hours needed to access health benefits.
This is fundamentally wrong. Olympic is a community funded organization that provides health care but has decided its ok to increase health care costs significantly for people who work less than .8FTE.
We have not received management’s full economic proposal to determine their full intent regarding wages and benefits. We anticipate receiving it during our next bargaining session.
