Uwajimaya Meat Department Tentative Agreement Reached!
/Our Bargaining Team Unanimously Recommends A Yes Vote!
Our Bargaining Team is excited to have reached a tentative agreement with Uwajimaya on April 10. We entered negotiations with Uwajimaya independently for the first time with the goal of getting a contract that reflects the value we provide as Union workers. After 3 months of negotiating, we have achieved that goal.
What we won:
Wage increases that put Journey level workers ahead of market
Secured our pension
Maintained our industry leading health care
Shorter path to top wage for meat cutters with larger wage increases for apprentices
Vacation carry over
Improved sick leave accrual
Increased funding for workforce development
And much more…
"Uwajimaya's union meat department employees are hard-working, skilled tradesmen and women who take pride in the quality of their workmanship, and we are proud to offer the best possible service to our customers in the PNW. We are happy to have finally reached a tentative contract agreement, and we look forward to what the future may bring." - Nathan Kaley
