Whidbey Health Service and Support Bargaining Update

Whidbey Health Service and Support Bargaining Update

On Thursday, July 11, our union Bargaining Team had another bargaining session with WhidbeyHealth. Between June 13 and this past Thursday, we have moved closer to a complete contract for your approval. We have finished most of the non-economic pieces and now we are focused on what remains –wages, parity, and a ratification bonus.

WhidbeyHealth Medical Center - No real movement on wages!

WhidbeyHealth Medical Center
No real movement on wages!

On October 26, our Bargaining Team met with Management for our TENTH negotiation session.

Management reviewed our proposal on economics, and they disregarded our efforts to find a compromise. We are under market at the beginning steps of the wage scales to attract new talent and be safely staffed. It’s frustrating that we were only given three hours for negotiations today because of Management’s time zone conflicts.

Our next bargaining session has been pushed from November 9 to November 28 due to WhidbeyHealth’s administration conflicts.

Get involved! Let your voice be heard! Be loud and proud!

Wear your union swag, as your wages and benefits depend on your participation. Find Jennifer in the Lab or the next time our Union Rep Celia is on site on November 6 for more information.

If you have any questions about the bargaining process, please contact our Union Rep Celia @ (360) 419-4678.

WhidbeyHealth Medical Center - We deserve a fair contract

WhidbeyHealth Medical Center
We deserve a fair contract

We are at the tail end of non-economics but have a few items not tentatively agreed upon. We are still holding strong to 14 days-notice to submit a resignation, but WhidbeyHealth disagrees and wants a fulfillment of 21 days-notice.

We also continued to propose our non-discrimination language that included timelines to ensure that with a complaint, our voices are heard and an investigation is started. WhidbeyHealth has told us they are not interested in responding to non-discrimination language within a 30 day timeline. They told us that their final offer was to have no timeline for a response. All we are asking from WhidbeyHealth is to ensure their employees can find out if their discrimination concerns are being heard and investigated. If there are discrimination issues at work, shouldn’t we be confident that the Employer is looking into those complaints within 30 days?

Show solidarity with our co-workers to let WhidbeyHealth know that WE WANT A FAIR CONTRACT AND WE WANT IT NOW!

We were supposed to be bargaining the week of June 26, but WhidbeyHealth has canceled our bargaining date for that week. We will be passing out stickers to wear the week of the June 26.

WhidbeyHealth: New Union Contract is Ratified

WhidbeyHealth: New Contract Ratified

On June 23, the Professional/Tech/LPN and Services/Support units overwhelmingly voted electronically to approve the contract offer!

Currently we are waiting for WhidbeyHealth to give us the date when wage increases and retroactive pay will be reflected on paychecks. Below is the wage increase which you should see on your paychecks:

Pro-Tech LPNs
1% pay increase, retroactive pay to 2/7/2020
1.5% effective 7/1/2021

Services/ Support
1% pay increase, retroactive pay to 6/7/2020
1.5% effective 7/1/2021

We were able to bargain contract increases higher than the RN unit and were able to win retroactive pay, but we understand that there are still more workplace issues to address.

Through the Labor Management Committee, we can address workplace issues like staffing and workload. If you are interested in being a part of the LMC, wish to be more involved, or have workplace issues please contact your union rep, Adrian Noel (360) 419-4677.
