“This tentative agreement will set a precedent for recognition of all types of previous nursing experience in the upcoming 2025 contract bargain in addition to placing Case Managers on the union wage scale now.”—Mary Briles, Case Manager RN

On February 15, our Union Bargaining Team met with Management, and after nearly a year of bargaining reached a tentative agreement!

We were able to win all provisions of the current nursing contract for all RN Case Managers. We fought tirelessly to be placed onto the existing RN wage scale for UFCW 3000 members. We were able to get Management to agree to recognize all years of nursing experience, including all subacute areas of nursing practice.

We will be holding the ratification vote on Friday, February 23. In order to vote you will need to fill out a union membership application at the vote.

PCC Workers Ratify Industry Leading Collective Bargaining Agreement!

Today we ratified a new 2-year Collective Bargaining Agreement!

Our union Bargaining Team put our interests first and we won on our top priorities.

The contract was not only ratified, workers at every PCC location overwhelmingly voted YES! Many members who were initially skeptical ended up voting yes when they saw the details of the contract.

The new contract will make our PCC members the highest paid Grocery and Meat workers in the area, improve the safety of our stores, and maintain our healthcare benefits. We also made significant gains in increasing our voices in the operation of PCC going forward. We secured a groundbreaking agreement and process to have workers on the board and begin discussion with the company around profit sharing. Together, our collective action set a new standard for PCC workers and continues the fight of moving PCC closer to its CO-op roots. We stood together for each other and our community.

“For the first time ever, we won wage escalators to ensure our lowest wage workers stay above the minimum wage.  We fought hard for helper clerks and won wage increases for our lowest paid deli workers. We did this by standing together and fighting together.” -Atsuko Koseki, Deli, PCC Edmonds

“Healthcare was a top priority and we fought back PCC takeaways. We also reduced our wage scales and won a path for permanent worker representation on the PCC Board of directors. Our co-workers and customers stood with us. And we won.” -Keith Allery, Deli, PCC Green Lake Village

“Perserverance to prosperity, I am grateful for the largest pay raise in PCC history.” -Allison Smith, Meat Cutter, PCC Issaquah

“My coworkers and fellow union members are happy with our union contract and we won a groundbreaking contract. There were outside agitators who tried to divide us, but we stood together. Can’t wait two years from now to bargain again. We must build off every contract.” -Yasab Pfister, PIC, PCC Burien

Discovery Behavioral Healthcare - Tentative Agreement Reached!

After multiple passes of proposals back and forth between our two teams, we were able to reach a fully recommended tentative agreement!

Improvements to the Collective Bargaining Agreement that make us excited to recommend a “Yes” vote include:

  • Creation of proper wage scales for Recovery Coaches and our Law Enforcement Navigator.
  • Overall improvements to the scales of multiple job classifications for greater recruitment and retention to Discovery Behavioral Healthcare.
  • A seven percent (7%) cost of living adjustment for all job classifications retroactive to January 1 of this year, with additional three percent (3%) adjustments in 2025 and 2026.
  • Recognition of longevity for those employees with DBH five years or more.
  • A $50 increase to the cap on what the employer will pay if healthcare premiums increase in 2025 or 2026 (up from $550 to $600).
  • Improvements to the orientation period language for new hires.

We will conduct an in-person contract ratification vote on-site at Discovery Behavioral Healthcare in the conference room in the administrative building from 10:30 AM–5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 14. UFCW 3000 members in good standing are encouraged to attend the meeting, ask questions, and vote on the contract. Contact a Bargaining Team member or your Union Representative for any questions..

PCC Strike Vote Results: Strike Authorization APPROVED, Contract Offer REJECTED

Today, PCC workers overwhelmingly voted to reject PCC’s most recent contract offer and voted to authorize a strike!

PCC has historically led the grocery store industry, but now they are making proposals that are far behind other stores—Town and Country, Saar’s, Safeway, and every other union grocery store in this region pays more than PCC.

We are sending a clear message: We will no longer allow our wages to lag behind and we are ready to strike.

PCC is the largest food co-op in the United States. When they were doing well, PCC was all too happy to spend money on fancy executive offices, or on big payouts to recruit Kroger and Starbucks management, or to install, then uninstall, then install again banks of USCAN machines, or to expand beyond their ability to operate. They spent their money in ways that did not benefit workers or improve the customer experience, over the objections of workers and our union. And now, after years of poor executive decision-making, PCC wants to balance their books on the backs of the workers.

We will not tolerate a grocery store that claims to care about the community and its members while undercutting community standards.

PCC has lost its way. And the only way for PCC to find its way again is to have workers involved in the decisions. Workers know better than anyone what works in our stores. Workers know the customers. Workers’ voices will make PCC successful.

Our message is clear: If we must strike, we will.

We are back at the bargaining table Tuesday, January 30. We must stand against the corporatization of PCC, we must stand together to keep up with industry standard wages, and we must stand up for ourselves.

After almost 9 months of bargaining, we have reached a tentative agreement on our first union contract and will hold an in-person meeting during work hours on Wednesday, February 14 to review the details and approve by a democratic vote.

We organized our Early Supports Union to address pay inequity, the rising costs of living in our region, and the goal of retaining staff and not having the high turnover that we were experiencing. This is historic- we are the first Early Supports Agency to unionize in Washington and one of the first private agencies to organize in the country!

Our Union Bargaining Team is unanimously recommending a YES vote.

Highlights of the tentative agreement include:

  • Compassion Leave improvements for all employees at NWC

  • Establishment of a weighted caseload system

  • Transparent wage scale with wage increases each year of the contract on our employment anniversary date and anniversary of contract ratification

  • Increased PTO accruals

  • Access to meetings via zoom and limits on in-person requirements

  • Health and Safety rights/protections

PCC Friday Contract Vote and Strike Authorization Vote

Friday Strike Vote: Our UFCW 3000 PCC Bargaining Team Unanimously Recommends a NO Vote on the Contract Offer and a YES Vote to Authorize a STRIKE!

Yesterday, after having six weeks to prepare a fair proposal, PCC came to our bargaining session only willing to propose a move of 10 cents for the Grocery contract and 20 cents for the Meat contract at the top of our scales. PCC then left the session without even responding to our counter proposals. PCC has clearly decided that our wages should be lower than our region’s grocery store standards. They think we deserve less than the grocery store worker across the street.

Our Member Bargaining Team thinks our work is worth more than that. We are ready to stand up for a fair contract.

PCC has historically led the grocery store industry and now they have fallen far behind. PCC is behind Town and Country, Saar's, Safeway, and every other union grocery store in this region.

We are sending a clear message: We will no longer allow our wages to lag behind and we are ready to strike.

PCC is the largest food co-op in the United States. When they were doing well, PCC was to happy to spend money on fancy executive offices, or big payouts to recruit Kroger and Starbucks management, or to expand beyond PCC's ability to operate, or to install, then uninstall, then install again U-SCAN machines. PCC has spent money in ways that did not benefit workers or improve the customer experience, over the objections of workers and our union. Now, after years of poor executive decision-making, PCC wants to balance their books on the backs of workers.

We will not tolerate a grocery store that claims to care about the community and its members while undercutting community standards.

PCC Management has lost its way. And the only way for them to find their way again is to have workers involved in their decisions. Workers know better than anyone what works in our stores. Workers know our customers. Workers' voices will make PCC successful.

If we must strike, it will be a strike to protect PCC from itself.

Contract Votes and Strike Authorization Meetings: Friday, January 26

Tomorrow, Friday, January 26, we will be holding Strike Authorization votes at all 15 PCC store locations. All members in good standing are eligible to vote. Copies of the PCC contract offer highlight sheet will be available for review at each vote location. Our Union Bargaining Team is recommending a NO vote to reject PCC's latest contract proposal and YES vote to authorize a strike.

Macy's Contract Votes Scheduled! Bargaining team recommends a YES vote

After not one but two powerful strikes in the middle of winter, our union bargaining team has reached a fully recommended tentative agreement with Macy’s that goes a long way toward respecting our work and protecting our wages and benefits. While we didn’t win everything we wanted, we were able to achieve the best Macy’s contract in the nation, with agreement on items that were at the top of our priorities list, including:

  • The largest ratification bonus in the country, 20% higher than where Macy’s offer was pre-strike

  • Protection of the MLK Day paid holiday for all current employees that Macy’s had threatened to take away with no replacement

  • Increased safety protections, including the right for workers to bring up safety issues or call for help without fear of discipline or retaliation

  • Not just protecting but increasing our wage escalators that guarantee wages stay above minimum wage even as it rises to keep up with inflation

This was a long fight for all of us, and your bargaining team is excited to review the full offer with all members at our vote meetings. The most important thing you can do now is show up to a vote meeting near you so you can get all your questions answered and cast your vote on the contract!

MFused - Contract ratified!

MFused
CONTRACT RATIFIED!

On December 29, after months of negotiations with Management, UFCW Local 3000 members at MFused voted to ratify OUR FIRST UNION CONTRACT! Our Union contract is now in full force and effect, including benefits and protections such as:

  • JUST CAUSE: Our contract protects against unfair discipline, ensuring workers cannot be disciplined or terminated arbitrarily, only for legitimate and evenly enforced violations of established policy. Going forward, call the Membership Resource Center at 1-866-210-3000 if you believe you have been unfairly disciplined.

  • LOWER MEDICAL COSTS: The Employer is now responsible for 65% of our total medical premium, up from the former 50%.

  • HIGHER VACATION ACCRUAL: Employees with over one year of service will now accrue more vacation time compared to the previous company policy.

    • Up to 1 year (0-1) years employment 80 hours

One to two (1-2) years employment 96 hours

Two to four (2-4) years employment 128 hours

Four or more (4 +) years employment 144 hours

  • WORK CANCELATION PAY: If Management needs to cancel your shift with less than forty-eight (48) hours’ notice then you will be entitled to pay for no less than half of your regular shift.

  • WAGES & BONUS: All wage increases, including our $750 ratification bonus, will take effect in the first full pay period after today's ratification vote.

Our MFused contract sets a new standard for the cannabis industry, not only in Washington State but nationwide, as workers seek to unionize to improve of their workplaces.

However, our journey is far from complete. We must now enforce our contract, address new issues that arise over its duration, and advocate for improvements in cannabis legislation within our state and beyond.

The achievement of our first contract stands as a testament to the strength of our union and the transformative power of our collective power in creating positive change in our workplace.
