The Joint Bargaining Begins Soon
/Introducing our union Bargaining Team! Lynnisha Bolar (Budtender), Cody Funderburk (Shift Lead), and Maddie Johnson (Budtender)
“My name’s Lynnisha, I’m Alaskan Native & Black, and I’ve been working in retail cannabis for the past 2 years. As an individual with chronic pain, I want the focus redirected back to the medical side of cannabis, which has been neglected too long in Washington State. As a mixed indigenous woman, I’d love to see more partnerships with indigenous communities and more diversity in the recreational sales industry.”
“My name is Cody, I’m a seasoned cannabis retail leader and union organizer with have a deep commitment to ethical management, social equity, and empowering frontline workers. As a proud UFCW 3000 member, I’ve spent years organizing across multiple retail locations to advocate for fair treatment and compassionate leadership in our industry, and I can’t wait to win our first contract at The Joint.”
We’re excited to announce that negotiations for our first contract will begin soon—we’ll finally be getting The Joint to meet us at the table in April. We’ve been preparing as a unit for months, identifying our shared goals and concerns and organizing around pay & raises, security, and health & safety issues. Now is the time to get involved! Join our next member meeting on Wednesday, April 23 at 12pm to learn more and share your voice. Zoom link: https://umaryland.zoom.us/j/95112634343
May Day
We aren’t alone in our struggle to defend our rights. In the last few months, the federal government has launched an all-out assault on the working class and our First Amendment rights. On May 1st, labor unions, immigrant protection organizations, and workers across America are continuing 139 years of pushing back against the chaos and cruelty. We’re showing up in force to May Day marches all around the state. If you’ve been feeling powerless, this is a powerful opportunity to stand together with your community and find the path forward.
