Teamsters 38 & UFCW 3000 Fred Meyer General Merchandise, Town & Country, Metropolitan Market and All Stores Under Interim Agreements We Stand in Solidarity
/Though some of our contracts don’t expire until later this year— including those of us in Fred Meyer GM and in Teamsters 38— and though many of us are covered under interim agreements, our fellow grocery workers at Kroger and Albertsons will take strike authorization votes following a disappointing final bargaining session with the employers from May 19 to 21.
After three long days of negotiations, the companies presented our bargaining team with the following proposals:
Nothing concrete to staff up the stores
An insulting wage scale that fails to keep up with costs (Employer Proposal: $1, $1, $1)
An offer to take our produce work at Kroger and give it away to outside vendors
A low-ball health care funding plan that risks benefit cuts
No wage parity between Fred Meyer General Merchandise workers and grocery workers
They’re throwing us a few peanuts while they feed Wall Street billions – even as our work continues driving up company profits! We won’t stand for it.
As those grocery workers dust off their picket signs, we will support any action they take in the battle for a fair contract. – including preparing for our own strike votes.
Lend a Hand, Some Wheels, and Your Voice!
We’ll send out more information related to our contracts closer to their expiration dates. In the meantime, contact your union rep to learn about ways to support fellow workers taking strike votes, such as volunteering to give rides to vote locations, showing up to workplace actions, and shooting videos for social media.
