On March 24 and 25, our member-led Bargaining Team met with Vestis. We came ready to reach an agreement. Unfortunately, the company did not respond with serious proposals that address our main issues. We were hopeful we could reach a tentative agreement over the last few days, but due to the company’s very small movement, we were not able to get there.

Among other issues, they would not budge on our demand for dignified wage increases. They think we’re worth pennies. When we demand the raise we deserve, they tell us two different stories. They say they’re struggling. But we know they have the money. When we push back, they say they’d offer this little even if they were a multi-billion-dollar company as offering more “doesn’t make business sense.”

Clearly, this isn’t about what Vestis can afford. It’s about what they think we’re worth. Now it’s time to show them. As we wait for the company’s response to our last package, we must continue to prepare for a possible strike. No Queremos una Huelga, Pero Lo Haremos

El 24 y 25 de marzo, nuestro Equipo de Negociación, liderado por miembros, se reunió con Vestis. Llegamos preparados para lograr un acuerdo. Desafortunadamente, la compañía no respondió con propuestas serias sobre los temas que más nos importan. Teníamos la esperanza de poder llegar a un acuerdo en esos días, pero la compañía casi no avanzó y no se pudo.

Entre otras cosas, no quisieron moverse en nuestra demanda de aumentos justos. Su propuesta deja claro que creen que valemos muy poco. Cuando exigimos el aumento que merecemos, nos cuentan dos historias diferentes. Dicen que están batallando económicamente. Pero sabemos que sí tienen dinero. Y cuando les respondemos, dicen que ofrecerían lo mismo aunque fueran una compañía multimillonaria, porque según ellos ofrecer más “no tiene sentido para el negocio.”

Claramente, esto no se trata de lo que Vestis puede pagar. Se trata de cuánto creen que valemos. Y ahora es momento de demostrarles lo contrario. Mientras esperamos la respuesta de la compañía a nuestro último paquete, debemos seguir preparándonos para la posibilidad de una huelga.
