LabCorp Nobody can survive on a 1.5% wage increase

Our Union Bargaining Team: Shelby Tyner, Misha Williams,  Serenity MacLennan, Lisa McGee, Sam McVay, Grace Nagamatsu, Erin Vaughn, David Trujillo (Union Rep), and Cesar R Quiles-Borrero (Negotiator)

After three bargaining sessions, our team, while dealing with the frustration caused by the Employer's lack of sensitivity to our members' hurdles and daily battles, remains firm in its pursuit of a contract that will have a meaningful impact on our members' lives.

To avoid complaints from the Employer, we presented a comprehensive set of proposals that will cover everything we are bargaining over. Unfortunately, the Employer has not lived up to the expectation and is taking a similar path to previous negotiations. They are coming to the table unprepared, demanding to see the research that sustains our proposals. In addition to all of the above, they proposed a 1.5% wage increase for each year of the contract; that's an insult to the work we do every day. They are not even trying to be competitive; they want to exploit workers, offer lower prices to their clients, and pocket the margin. We, the committee representing over 600 employees at LabCorp, are tired and fed up with their tactics and disrespectful proposals. We deserve more than 1.5% per year!

We will commence a series of escalation actions to pressure the Employer. It is time to get together and fight for our families and ourselves. Stay tuned for more news about these actions.

We will continue working through the next bargaining sessions to address all open items and more.

"They are doing the same thing they do every re-negotiation. Weaponize their incompetence and make the union do all the work. I work 8 hours a day, graveyard shift 5 days a week, and they think I am worth 1.5% for all the damage this shift does to my body? Laughable.." — Serenity MacLennan

“We received a disappointing proposal from management with a 1.5% wage increase each year.  Our negotiation team has made some movement from our initial proposal, with little movement by management." — Grace Nagamatsu

Our next bargaining dates are July 24 and 28.
