Puget Sound Allied Grocery Stores: Safeway Stand Up for Better Staffing
/On March 5 and 6, our Bargaining Team met with Safeway and passed proposals on staffing and scheduling, retail theft, immigration protections, PPE and safety, and other non-economic items.
The fight over staffing remains on the table. Workers report that understaffed stores create:
More burnout and unsafe staffing levels
Pressure from management for workers to skip their legal and contractually required breaks and lunches
Rampant out of stocks that create an atmosphere of inconvenience and frustration for customers and workers, resulting in poorer sales.
While staffing and wages remain top priorities this bargaining cycle, our Bargaining Team knows that we must also safeguard our healthcare and retirement plans as the cost of healthcare continues to rise across the country.
Join the fight to win the wages and staffing levels that we need by getting organized and ready to strike.
Become a strike captain: With well-trained strike captains, we can run more powerful strike lines. If you are interested in being a strike captain, reach out to your union Rep!
