At the bargaining table on April 25, our member-led bargaining committee successfully delivered our petition to company management, signed by a supermajority of Met Market workers. If you haven’t seen our full petition, you can see our demands here >>
Because of that petition and our other organizing efforts, Met Market agreed to independently bargain with us over the core issues of staffing, hours, retention pay, and training. Our initial conversation on these issues was positive, and we’re looking forward to discussing concrete solutions as the process continues.
Our bargaining team is made up of coworkers across different stores and departments. Once our fellow union members at Safeway, Fred Meyer, and QFC reach an agreement, we will begin formal negotiations with Met Market that will build off of their contract. We know we can continue raising the grocery industry standard and believe Met Market should be that industry leader.
Please reach out to your bargaining team or union representative if you are interested in talking with your coworkers and organizing to let Met Market leadership know that we are serious about improving our working conditions.
We deserve to have a job that doesn’t push us to burnout at every turn. It’s never too late to join the fight – and when we fight, we win!
