The Joint Bargaining Begins!

Bargaining has begun! On May 7, 2025, our bargaining team members met with employer representatives from The Joint to begin first contract negotiations. We opened by proposing language on non-economic topics including:

  • Just Cause – ensures due process and protects you from unfair discipline and termination

  • Grievance & Arbitration – sets a process for holding employers accountable to alleged contract violations

  • Union Representation – creates more ways to build power within your workplace in addition to the labor rights you already have

  • Labor-Management Committee – establishes a regular collaborative space for workers and management to discuss solutions to non-contractual workplace issues

  • Seniority – sets a equitable standard to reward job longevity

  • Health & Safety – made a number of proposals to expand workplace safety, including a Safety Committee, not scheduling members to close by themselves, and attendance flexibility during unsafe commuting conditions

  • Employment Practices – made a number of proposals on non-discrimination, commitments to diversity/equity/inclusion, immigration enforcement protections, and limitations to surveillance

“The work is not yet done!” – Lynnisha Bolar

We look forward to receiving management’s initial counterproposals as we build the foundation for a fair first contract and move forward with our economic proposals at our next session on June 18.

In the meantime, join us for a KYR Stewardship training session over Zoom with us this Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00pm!
