On April 27, our new Meat contract was ratified! On a great day of voting, Meat workers overwhelmingly ratified a contract that highlights the value that Union workers bring to Uwajimaya.

OUR NEW KEY CONTRACT WINS INCLUDE:

  • Highest-ever average annual wage increase for journeypersons: $4.20 over three year deal

  • Language to establish Assistant Manager positions in our stores with premium pay

  • Quadrupled our wage escalators for apprentice meat cutters—that means strong wage increases throughout the pay scale when minimum wage goes up

  • Shortened path to Journey Meat Cutter by a year

  • Doubled Meat Manager premium- now at $2 over journey cutter

  • Health care protected: Most funding ever secured to keep our strong, low-cost plan

  • Secured money to help ensure our pensions are funded

  • Protected earned vacation hours with rollover language

  • Improved Sick and Safe Leave hour accruals for our Bellevue and Renton stores
