Puget Sound Allied Grocery Stores Taking It To The Streets!

On Thursday April 3, our union members grabbed bullhorns, hoisted up informational picket signs, and marched outside of Fred Meyers and QFCs across Puget Sound to fight for better wages, better staffing, and better stores.

We let Kroger know they need to pay up and staff up so that we can get our work done safely and serve our customers and community.

We also let the company know that union work is union work! We won’t accept a contract that takes away work in our produce departments by inviting outside, non-union vendors into our stores—especially not vendors with a history of food safety recalls!

And we were in good company. Elected officials such as Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and King County Council Member Teresa Mosqueda walked our picket lines and echoed our demands. Other community partners such as Faith Action Network and the Transit Riders Union showed up and marched shoulder-to-shoulder with us as well.

Upcoming Bargaining Dates: April 17, 21, 22, 28, 29, 30

“Do you hear that, QFC? Do you hear that, Kroger? We will SHUT IT DOWN if we don’t get a contract,” King County Council Member Teresa Mosqueda said outside of the Harvard Market QFC in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Mosqueda helped us win hazard pay during the pandemic.

“The fact that you don’t get paid what you deserve – that is just wrong because these grocery stores are profiting off of your labor,” said Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, who helped us block the mega-merger of Kroger and Albertsons.

Keep up the fight!
