PCC Contracts Ratified!
/PCC workers have spoken: A majority voted to ratify the Tentative Agreement for both the Grocery and Meat contracts that our member-led Bargaining Team negotiated with co-op Management.
The fully recommend agreement includes:
Industry-leading wage increases for Grocery/Deli Clerks and Meat Cutters/ Wrappers, and wage increases for Helper Clerks inside and outside of Seattle to bring all stores closer to wage parity;
Full backpay at the top of the scales for Grocery/Deli Clerks, Meat Cutters, Meat Wrappers, and Helper Clerks;
Increased premiums for Night Crew and Coordinators;
Better protections and job security for all workers at PCC who might be targeted by ICE or who may need to deal with immigration-related issues;
A stronger and more democratic Labor Management Committee with representatives from every store;
Double the Employer contribution to our training fund with weekly contributions from workers and a commitment from the Employer to explore the development of additional training programs, supporting career advancement for all;
Maintaining our high-quality health care with affordable employee premiums, low deductibles, and low max out-of-pocket expenses
Secure retirement with ongoing funding that increases with every wage increase
And more!
This victory didn’t come easily. During our eight months of bargaining, we wore our union stickers and buttons to work, leafleted our stores, held dozens of Contract Action Team meetings, and launched a successful informational picket to help bring customers and neighbors into our fight.
The upshot isn’t just an industry-leading contract we’re proud of. Before this campaign, PCC was in danger of sliding into the corporate void. By standing together, we helped slow that slide and reclaim our co-op for the workers and members who built this place.
Our fight doesn't end here. This win provides a foundation we can use to keep building the democratic, worker-powered co-op that PCC members and workers deserve.
