Read MoreOn Thursday, August 15 our Virtual Health bargaining team met with management for our first bargaining day of this contract cycle to begin work on our next collective bargaining agreement.
Read MoreOur Bargaining Team met with Management this Monday, August 19 to begin exchanging economic proposals. We passed an initial proposal over to Management, got some verbal responses, and revised our proposals slightly.
After our second proposal, Management returned a very sparse one-page response to us just before the end of the day.
We hope to arrange Contract Action Team meetings between now and our next bargaining sessions. The purpose of these meetings will be to discuss with our coworkers how we might best organize to win the strongest contract we can. We will be inviting all of you to join this discussion.
Due to availability issues, Management was not able to schedule any further sessions with us until October. We are currently scheduled for October 3, 4, 16, and 18. We hope something else opens before then, that said.

Last week on August 14, we had our first bargaining date with Providence for our contract. Both sides came to the table prepared and we had deep discussions with management on many topics including retention and recruitment, new employee orientation, training and precepting, equity and nondiscrimination in the workplace, and how we can build trust between the Hospital and caregivers. Our next bargaining dates are September 4 and 18. On these dates we will be discussing the changes to the Aetna health care network along with other economic proposals.

Over the last two days, your union bargaining team met with Twin City Foods representatives to continue contract negotiations. We presented all our proposals, which included our wage proposal that we believe is comparable to the labor market.
Unfortunately, one of the first proposals we received from Twin City Foods was to increase the health insurance cost for workers by 15% (from 10% to 25%)! Now that Twin City Foods has all of our proposals, we await their response. Next contract negotiations are scheduled for August 26 and 29. We are hopeful that in the upcoming days of negotiation, we can get closer to a fair contract that values the hard work of all employees in every department.
On behalf of the negotiation committee, we thank you all for your support and for attending the gathering last Sunday. Sharing time with you outside of work is always a great experience!
We have reached a tentative agreement on a mid-contract wage increase for some positions which are currently below market wage rates. EvergreenHealth has tentatively agreed to increase wages for the following positions
Read MoreAfter much review of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and proposals exchanged between Ostrom’s Drug and our Union, a fully recommended Tentative Agreement has been reached.
Highlights of the agreement include:
Raises for Pharmacy Clerks/Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians.
An updated pay scale so that new hires will have contractual minimum rates of pay.
A conversion from the Sound Retirement Trust pension plan to the new Sound Variable Annuity Pension Trust pension plan, with new money in contributions added each year of the contract.
UFCW 3000 members in good standing are encouraged to attend the meeting, ask questions, and vote on the contract on Monday, August 26 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The vote meeting will be held on site, in the breakroom.
We are recommending a “YES” vote!
On Friday, August 9, our Tentative Agreement was ratified by an online vote with a unanimous "YES" to approve by all those who participated!
